Algebra is a math class offered to incoming Middle School level students and taught by Professor Jen. This is a hybrid online/in-person class, which will make use of the free online program Khan Academy. During class time, the topic(s) for the next week of study will be introduced. The students will then be expected to complete a number of homework problems on Khan Academy, making as much or as little use of the videos and practice problems as they need. The next week in class will be spent primarily in problem-solving, then introducing the next topic(s). A quick-paced class, we will complete the entire course during this 16-week semester. Students should expect to spend an average of 1 hour per day working on Khan Academy. A laptop device would be useful, but not necessary, to bring to class.
Algebra is a 16 week course, meeting once a week. Due to the nature of this class, all 16 classes are necessary to completion of the course. If your child is unable to attend a class, resources and curriculum will be made available to you, to prevent your child from getting behind. Through the 16 week semester, the course will include 24 hours of core materials, aligning with Missouri State Education Standards.
Algebra will meet from noon to 1:30pm weekly on Tuesdays, starting January 16th and going through to May 8th, with March 13th off for Spring Break. If you are unable to pay for the entire block of classes at once, they maybe be purchased in 4-week sections. However, as stated above, participation in all 16 classes is necessary. Class must have at least 5 students to make. If you purchase this class and it does not happen, you will receive a 100% refund. Class will be held in the 417 Kids Classroom, located at 916 W Atlantic in Springfield.
